My client was out with friends in downtown St. Petersburg. They all were drinking excessively. Thinking that they were going to leave to head to the next spot, my client wandered outside. When he realized that his friends did not come with him, he tried to re-enter through a side door. A bouncer saw him and got aggressive. They exchanged words and eventually got into a fight. The police responded and arrested him for disorderly intoxication. He was taken to the Pinellas County jail and bonded out.
My client had no prior record and had a very good job and background. I sent all of this information to the prosecutor and followed up with a telephone call. It was clear that this was an isolated incident and he had already been punished enough by being arrested and going to jail.
About three weeks after the arrest, the prosecutor dropped the charge against my client. Now, he is eligible to expunge his criminal record.
