Facts:
My client was driving for work when he was in a very minor accident. He stopped, but did not see any damage, so he left. He was later stopped by a Florida State Trooper and given a ticket for leaving the scene of an accident, a misdemeanor. He was also given a ticket for careless driving.
The Case:
It was an extremely minor accident and the damage to the other car was barely visible. I had my client complete the 12 hours ADI driving school. I then submitted a letter asking for the charge to be amended.
The Result:
The prosecutor agreed to amend the charge to a civil infraction called failure to report. He was given a fine of $166 and he even avoided points on his record.
