Facts:
My client had a brief relationship with a woman that turned sour. There were allegedly 56 calls and 80 text messages sent within a few hours. Then, the woman blocked his number and she alleged he began contacting her from a different number. My client was arrested for Stalking. The woman also filed a Stalking Injunction against him.
The Case:
My client had a history of domestic related charges, including stalking, which did not help the situation. However, in this case, the period of contact was very brief, nobody was hurt, and there were no threats of violence.
The Result:
I was able to have a productive conversation with the woman and learned that all she really wanted was for my client to never contact her again. My client had no desire to contact her again. To achieve that, we stipulated to a 1-year injunction. With that safeguard in place, the State agreed to dismiss the criminal stalking charge.
