Facts:
I previously represented this client for a DUI. Her license was suspended as a result of that charge. She had completed probation, just did not have the money to reinstate her license. But, she kept driving to and from work. One morning, a police officer ran her tag, saw that her license was suspended, and she was issued a citation for driving on a suspended license.

She hired me to handle the misdemeanor charge.

The Case:
The judges in Pinellas County take driving on a DUI suspension seriously and I knew that she was in danger of doing jail time. It was very important for her to get a license. I knew that I had to try to avoid the judge and work things out with the prosecutor.
Fortunately, my client was able to reinstate her license and get a valid DL. I sent it over to the prosecutor and explained the circumstances.

The Result:
The prosecutor agreed to amend the driving on a suspended license charge to a civil infraction. She only had to pay a fine of $116 and was all done with the case. My client was thrilled with the result.
