I resolve several DUI cases every month in the Pinellas County State Attorney’s Diversion Program called DROP. This program is for first-time DUI offenders.
Because there are too many each month to write about, I wanted to mention that these have been done in a summary. In August 2024, our criminal law department resolved 7 cases that were first-time DUIs that were reduced to reckless driving in the DROP program. We also resolved a couple of other DUIs for recklessness that were not in DROP.
All of the clients in DROP either blew under .15 or refused the intoxilyzer. All were happy to get out of the charge!
