Facts:
My client was at Rumfish Grill on St. Pete Beach when the staff began to complain about his behavior. They refused to serve him anymore and called the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. My client paid his tab and left before the police arrived and headed to his hotel room. The police went after him and arrested him for disorderly conduct and defrauding an innkeeper. Both charges were misdemeanors and he was taken to the Pinellas County Jail. He bonded out and returned to his home state.
The Case:
The prosecutor had already filed the charges against him by the time I was hired. Because he lived out of state, he did not want to come back to Florida to deal with this case. He also provided me proof that his tab had been paid before the police arrived.
We submitted a motion to dismiss the charges and spoke to the prosecutor multiple times.
The Result:
After several letters and phone calls, the prosecutor agreed to dismiss all the charges. My client never had to return to Florida and was very happy.
