The Case:
Ranger’s client in Pinellas County, Florida, was arrested on DUI charges after being involved in a car accident in St. Petersburg after he rear ended another car. Ranger’s client was extremely intoxicated and his breathalyzer test result that indicated a blood alcohol content (BAC) level over three times the legal limit.
When Ranger’s client reached out for representation, the prosecutor was asking for 30 days jail, in addition to the other consequences of a DUI. Given the severity of the charges and the potential consequences, Ranger began a comprehensive defense strategy:
- Thorough Investigation: Ranger examined every detail of the case, including the traffic stop, field sobriety tests, and breathalyzer results.
- Proactive Rehabilitation: Ranger encouraged his client to take proactive steps towards rehabilitation, including:
- Completing DUI school
- Attending counseling sessions
- Participating in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings and keeping a log of his attendance
- Volunteering for community service
- Completing a Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Victim Impact Panel (VIP)
- Persuasive Advocacy: Ranger presented a compelling argument to the judge, emphasizing our client’s remorse, commitment to change, and the steps taken towards rehabilitation. Ranger also submitted strong reference letters from individuals who could attest to his client’s character and that this situation was out of character.
- The Favorable Outcome : Despite the state’s recommendation for jail time, Ranger’s diligent efforts and persuasive advocacy resulted in a favorable outcome for his client. The judge agreed to a sentence that included no jail time, recognizing the client’s commitment to rehabilitation and positive change.
